Director Biography - Mylissa Fitzsimmons

Mylissa spent her early years in Moab, Utah then as a teenager in Oregon. In high school she took to skateboarding and photography, photographing bands and making super 8 skate videos. It was during her last year of school she was introduced to documentary filmmaking. After 15 years making doc films she made the transition into narrative films and writing.
Her films include, Long Way Home, Mercy, the award winning That Party That One Night and Who Decides. As well as writing and directing she is the co-founder of The Los Angeles Women’s Film Collective has worked as a producer on many short films and an Executive Producer on and the feature film A Black Rift Begins To Yawn.
Mylissa has been a finalist for various film programs including the HBO Directing Fellowship and a Screen Craft finalist for her short story writing. In 2017 she won the Sun Valley Film Festival Short Film Lab for her script Who Decides. In 2018 she was invited to participate in The Reykjavik Talent Lab in Iceland. Her films have played at various festivals around the world and can bee seen online. She is in post production on her first feature film, Everything in The End to be released in 2020. Mylissa lives in Los Angeles, CA
