Director Biography - Michael Pearce, Bruce DePyssler

Michael Pearce is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mass Communication at North Carolina Central University. Before joining NCCU he taught at Shaw University in Raleigh, NC and the Living Arts College in Wake Forest, NC.

Michael grew up in the triangle area and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with degrees in both English Literature and Film Studies. He went on to graduate school at Savannah College of Art and Design, where he earned his MFA in Film and Television Production.

In addition to teaching since 2010 Michael has also served as a co-producer and editor on HOLANC!. HOLANC! is a local weekly televised program that highlights the positive contributions of the Latino and Hispanic population in the Raleigh-Durham area.

He is also a producer / director of many fiction and non-fiction films, both short form and long form, including the award winning environmental justice documentary Warren County: Birth of a Movement.
